Baron Hirsch is looking for an energetic and experienced administrative leader to serve as its executive director. Reporting to the board of trustees and working closely with the senior rabbi and dedicated committees, the executive director will oversee the operations of the synagogue, the office/staff and the maintenance of our facilities and support the senior rabbi and lay leadership in catering to the religious, educational and social needs of the congregation.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the day-to-day operations of the synagogue office; supervising the administrative, kitchen and maintenance staff; and supporting the clergy/educational staff.
• Overseeing financial administration and related functions, including accounts payable, billing/collections, payroll, budgeting and reporting.
• Providing leadership and support for fundraising/development efforts.
• Ensuring proper maintenance of the synagogue building (including two mikvahs) and its surrounding campus.
• Supporting needs associated with the cemetery, including maintenance and assisting members with funeral planning/arrangements.
• Facilitating the safety and security of the synagogue campus.
• Maintaining the calendar of synagogue services, events, programs, sponsorships and facilities rentals and overseeing their execution.
• Managing synagogue communications and public relations efforts.
• Helping to grow the congregation and managing member relations.
• Participating in board and committee meetings and supporting related event needs.
• Providing vision and strategic planning for the congregation and its future needs.
• Ensuring that Baron Hirsch operates by professional standards and provides a welcoming environment for all.
The position involves regular business hours, plus some commitments on evenings, weekends and Jewish holidays.

Prior organizational leadership experience (preferably in the Jewish nonprofit sector) and an understanding of Orthodox synagogue life are required. Our ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, creative, dependable, proactive and a good communicator. They should bring financial acumen and strong computer/technology skills to the position.
